I agree with Tony that there were significant variations between manufacturers but as a rough rule of thumb, tires of that era were 100% profile (as tall as wide) so a 10.50-16 would be 16" (the rim) +2x10.5" (the tire) = 37" tall.

Having said this, the 9.25-16 used on the C8A (C8AX too?) were shorter than the 9.00-16 used on 15 cwts. I don't know of anything in the size designator to let one know this was a "low profile" tire.
