UK Royal Corps of Transport cap badge?

Hi,

Does anyone have a picture or a link to a picture of a WW2 time CAP BADGE for "Royal Corps of Transport"?

Am just trying to help someone ID a regimental uniform from a picture for a woman trying to find out who her dad served with.

Hi Karmen;

The Royal Corps of Transport was not formed until 1965, a wee bit after the Second World War (20 yrs). Below is the cap badge of the Royal Army Service Corps, as worn 1939-1945.

The cap badge of the Royal Corps of Transport, but the Corps wasn't formed until 1965.

Hmmmm ... 1965 doesn't work for WW2 then, does it? And it sounds like the cap badge for them was a Kings Crown in WW2 but by 1953 was changed to a Queens Crown???

I obviously don't know what I'm talking about : I was hoping to find an image of the KINGS CROWN cap badge, if it exists because someone implied that prior to about 1953 it was Kings crown ... after that, Queens crown.!!!

Trouble for me is that I don't know if other people know what they're talking abouut ... unlike here in the MLU of course I trust the info in here is good, and know its corrected or challenged when its not, til we get the right answer if ones to be had

ARE the two regiments mentioned one and the same with a new name given in 1965? Is that possible?

Hi Karmen;

The Royal Army Service Corps, in the context of 'Transport' , is the predecessor of the Royal Corps of Transport. The Royal Corps of Transport however, did not exist before 1965, before which 'Transport' was within the sphere of the Royal Army Service Corps. Can you post the picture you mentioned earlier?

Er ... your point, Mark-O? My toes are tiny so it gets even more confusing as I have to count each one twice to make up one normal count.

Regards photo ... I'll see if I can scoop them and email them to you okay End goal for this lady is to ID her Dad's correct regiment from tough photos to ID details, and go from there for her.

I forgot to mention, the Royal Corps of Transport was only in existence from July 1965 to April 1993. It's now the Royal Logistic Corps.

That explains how you figured out that 1965 was 20 years after 1945 and therefore wasn't the Second World War....... 10 toes counted twice equals 20........

He served in the British.

The Royal Corp of Transport came up as someones "guess" as to regiment, BASED ON WHAT THEY THINK ARE THE LETTERS "R.C.T." that she thinks show up in one of those photos, which is what the daughter is exploring now.
I'm sorry to post such iffy questions but I figured you or someone else in here would be quick to verify.

Maybe you'll see a totally different regiment

Hi Karmen;

I still don't know where "R.C.T." came from, but its not that or RASC (Royal Army Service Corps). I'd have to say, that from what I can make out, he served with the Corps of Royal Engineers (RE), judging by the cap badge visible in one photo and the equipment in the other. I've attached an image of the RE cap badge (1939-1945).

Nope, Sorry, George broke my 'Crystal Ball' years ago and brain farts don't seem to work these days, but like you said, he didn't leave the UK at all, so they were taken "Somewhere in the United Kingdom", just like war time press censors would have captioned a photo.....

Thanks a lot Mark. I wanted to just post the photos in here but felt uncomfortable without clearing that with her first. Her best bet, I figure, is that if she can come up with a probable regiment for starters, then she could focus on them and go from there on the UK side.

Yes ... I figure everyone figures "somewhere in the UK" Question is where? The buildings might have been a good clue but UK eyes would likey be liklier to recognize em hey?
