Poona to me used to be a Australian training camp in Australia.
It had a railway platform called Poona about 3 km away from the main camp which still existed until the early 1980s. I think the location was north of Albury......west of Wagga on the main southern railway line. Some of the back ground in the pictures remind me of the areas country side. A Photo showing a truck, some troops and a Poona sign earlier in this thread may be from the area I described. Last edited by Ron King; 10-02-21 at 22:42.

Only Australian Poona I can find is near Fraser Island in Queensland.
The AWM caption on that Poona photo says it is Karachi with airmen on their way to Poona RAF Base. Last edited by Lang; 11-02-21 at 07:15.

Hi ,
Recently I was looking more about my truck and I found this link "https://hmvf.co.uk/topic/36886-indian-army-vehicles-in-indian-in-ww2/" and it fascinates me also i came across one documentary life of Harry Birrell that documentary is mainly from his life in CBI theater. I definitely recommend this documentary. "https://www.imcdb.org/v001363080.html"  here you can see the formation sign of IV Corps on the left side on the mudguard.  Seniors kindly comment you can clearly see the Indian Pattern body style. I am planning to visit North East of India hope will get more info on these trucks , But seems we are having Covid restriction so I have to wait for a while , Admin if you find this post not relevant kindly delete it. thank you
