Here is a wartime era interior photo which may help out when determining the Otter's interior colour.

Thanks Ed for the wonderful picture. Interesting to note the engine cover is painted in the exterior colour along with the dash.

Grant, the vehicle did have a fire at some point in its life. So I do suspect that there was a colour shift in the white.

Interesting pic. The contraption is later style smoke discharger pistol replacing the standard 4" Ross or SMLE type. I'm thinking a trial installation. I'm surprised the engine cover is khaki, something for Jordan to watch for. It does confirm the observation covers are khaki on the inside and shows where the colour goes to white (tan?) on the actuating levers. That last thing to note is the lettering on the box 'SPARE TRIPLEX'. Production Otters and Fox had these markings printed or screened on and not spray stenciled. This could be because this photo is of an early Otter before they settled on the type of markings or possibly a repaint and somebody applied a stencil after the fact.

I would think from Ed’s pics one can definatively assert that the interior colour is white.
The stencilled bin appears to be the same hue as the interior surfaces. Any original AFV bins that I have ever come across have always been painted white.

If you have the PDF on dischargers that I sent to a lot of the guys, it lists that discharger as a 2" bomb thrower. Manual is dated 1942, so I suspect both dischargers were concurrent.
One advantage to that 2" thrower is that it could be used with 2" mortar bombs I believe.

I agree, other than to say the rifle/4" tube combo predates the 2" launcher. Also that the Otter (and Fox) hulls are pre drilled with the centre and 1/4" aligning holes for the 4" one so the 2" would need some kind of adapter, as we are seeing in Ed's pic.
