Default Fire extinguishers

Hi, i have this fire extinguisher installed in the box . Does anyone have information wether it is period correct please ? Was this common to have the word «* Army*» pressed on the standard hand extinguisher? Thanks .

Yes period correct. They are the same as the civilian ones which means they are reasonably easy to find. I've never seen one with ARMY embossed on the top like yours, does the label say made in Canada? I have some marked DND ARMY but it is on the top line of the instruction plate on the side.

There are several versions of the DND ARMY fire extinguishers. The ones ahown are my favorite. You can also find them stamped on the edge of the top, as well as find the DND ARMY on the label at the top.
I have also seen them with CPR on the top, so it looks like pyrene would custom make them for companies or departments.

I suppose a civilian extinguisher would be fine, but not one with insurance company markings on the label, which are quite common.

My favorite surplus yard still has dozens and dozens of these extinguishers, and not all are DND marked.
