Thanks for the ID. Once I googled Bedfords I quickly found a photo. I assume the short arm with the holes on either side are some version of a choke??

Glad to help. The device on the side was what Solex called Zero Starter and is the choke as such. I have had dealings with these carbs for many years! Michael, I would have been quicker if I had seen the post earlier! Regards Richard
