Unhappy Fires

The fires continue to burn

Expecting up to 40mm rain later this week. It won't be enough to put the fires out, but should slow things down a lot.

Unfortunately this fire break proved to be futile once the wind sprung up last night (9th Jan)

Fortunately for me I wasn't at Batlow when the fire storm hit.

I have to pile on with everyone else and say how heartbreaking it is to just see it on the news and can only imagine what a nightmare it is for you all down there.
The wife and I donated $200 for the fight (and nightmare) you guys down under are living daily.

News today that a C130 Large Air Tanker chartered to fight the NSW fires from Canadian company Coulson Aircrane has crashed in the firezone, killing all 3 US Aircrew on board.

Grateful for the worldwide assistance coming to help, but saddened at the cost.
