Hello Rod.
Is it a stencil, or just a good freehand bit of work? Freehand would suggest an individual totem done by a mechanic or driver in the military, or perhaps even a post military civilian creation. If it appears to be a standard stencil design, that suggests a much higher, level of organization at work. The only thing that comes to mind to explain it is the 1948 War of Independence for Israel. They made extensive use of CMP’s, as, I think, the Arab Armies did at that time. If that is the case, it makes for an interesting example of the world travels CMP parts can make. David |
