And just like that, the fall is upon us. You visited at a good time of year.

By now most of the HMV owner/operators/builders in Canada have stopped working outdoors on their collections and are making ready for the winter. The only exceptions are a few of us have obligations to our local Royal Canadian Legion branches or communities to parade on or before 11 Nov.

My 1970 M38A1 came back from its troubleshooting and fault fixing a week or so after you two left, and immediately almost everything inside the shelter came out to make room for the '70 and the '74. Except for the 17' canoe in the backyard, you wouldn't know much else was happening. It was a bit of fun reversing one Jeep tandeming the second one lashed to a loose tire with 5-ton cargo straps. Four wheel drive low range and reverse on idle! That is torque.

The leaves are well along in their burst of reds, oranges, yellows and browns.
Although the grass is still green, that will end as soon as we have a few hard frosts. Snow is forecast for the weekend, but that is just the first of the season to scare us into finishing any remaining winterization projects.

Default and now there is snow on the ground

How many weeks since you visited Ontario? The nighttime temps have been steadily declining to single digits over the past two weeks. Last week we had frost, and last night about 2 cm of snow. Yup, you left just in time.

We timed it well, although spring is not heating up here at the moment we have turned the heating back on again and the higher peaks have fresh late snow.

Terry: Stop your whining. I was in Southern Ontario a few days ago and could smell the green grass, and was working in my T-shirt. I came home to -19. If temps do warm up to anything near zero we get snow.

I think Robert and Vicki did time things right. Earlier, and they would have been mosquito food. Later, and they would have got a taste of what we (in the west at least) deal with for 5 to 6 months of the year.
