The speedometer shaft was supplied as an assembly with the inner and outer parts. Canadian speedometer shafts and casing assemblies replaced the UK Type Y, although the inner remained the same length, 10’ 3”.
The Canadian shaft and casing assembly for the three bogie wheel hull models is P/N C01UC-106014-B. There were two Canadian speedometer types, identified by the change in their dial and pointer. The early model dial is observed with white markings on a black background, the later model, usually called the MK-II* speedometer, had a two tone white and black dial, white pointer showing a red tip. See part numbers C01UC-106001-C for the speedometer assembly, along with 106106 B, and 106107 B for the dial and pointer. The black dial face pictured is a reproduced item by an MLU contributor. |

The speedometer cable length is published as 10’ 3”. Once you add the end bits the total length is closer to 10’ 5”.

Gents,
Brian Asbury had a NOS core cable that he measured for me a couple of years ago. He stated the length to be the same as in the parts list, i.e. 10'3". Possibly he quoted the parts list instead of measuring it? I had a new complete cable made here in the Netherlands. I told them the inner cable length and gave them all the parts the cable connects to such as speedometer with elbow and driven gear with brass adapter so they could find the correct fittings. Cost was about € 100. I still have the order form with the recipy so they can make more if needed. Cheers,
