Hi Ian and Hanno,
Yes I thought that too and I also notice a bracket at the top of the cab directly above that bracket. Maybe not a water type extinguisher but perhaps a long CO2 extinguisher in view of the heavy construction of the bracket and the bracket at the top? Just wonder if there would be a reason why that type of vehicle would be earmarked for a CO2 extinguisher if indeed it is? Would be good to find a photo of a truck with something in the bracket(s) Cheers,

Maybe they are the same truck and there is only one. Which doesn't explain what the bracket is for though.

Hi Ken,
That would be an amazing coincidence but amazing things do happen! I actually mainly bought the vehicle for the bracket having seen the AWM photo a long time ago. Despite it being very rough, it has given up a few good parts and some good information. I've had my $400 worth of fun from it. Cheers,

Extinguisher, Fire, 2 gallon, foam filled (marine or transportation) bracket or
Extinguisher, Fire, 2 gallon, soda-acid type (marine or transportation) bracket. Battery Staff vehicles had one foam-filled, so one bracket. Fire Tenders had one of each type, ie two - one bracket each side. The fire tender also had a 20-lb CO2 extinguisher. Mike |

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that confirmation. Looks like the truck was the real deal i.e. Battery Staff. Pity it wasn't in better condition but the chassis is beyond repair. The bracket probably stayed there as long as it did since post war it was a Bush Fire Brigade truck. Cheers,

I have seen that bracket mounted to a 1943 C60L, stores un-binned truck.
so they were fitted to a number of different variants.
