Barry,
the late David Hayward registered a lot of Chev chassis and engine numbers. Most of his research can be found on our forum, but it is also displayed here: http://hotrod.gregwapling.com/chev-t...dian-chev.html If you scroll down to "1942 15cwt 4x4" you will find two trucks very close to yours. Both were assembled in Melbourne. Quote:

WO 15 is Battery Staff Wireless, a C15A with an Australian 2 or 2A body, definitely the winch is an add-on.
Also not all gun tractors had the 6" steering ends, in fact most if not all of the deliveries of those chassis to Australia were in 1942 before the 6" steering ends were introduced.
