Info needed: 1942 ford civilian dash cmp batt gauge question

Hi Connor,

Here is one version of the gauge. I think there are a couple of different faces used on the same gauge. Some say "BATT" other says "AMP"

This one is a Dennis Carpenter NOS listed as '41-'47 pickup so it is the right era.

Further to previous post here is another "BATT" gauge face.

I think this is a Ford passenger car version as it was in a panel with no shift points on the speedo.

Look like it could be yours.

Thanks for the reply, that picture of the batt gauge was exactly what I've been looking for. I've also seen pictures of ford cmp's with the amp gauge so I wouldn't be surprised if they just threw in what ever they had on the shelf at the time.

The Battery gauge is a volt meter. In Australian carriers at least, it depended on which type of generator was fitted (2 or 3 brush) as to which gauge was fitted (volt meter or amp meter)

I've changes image hosts although i don't think it really matters at this point but no more photobucket silliness.

So after thinking on it a bit and looking at one of the cmp manuals I have I don't think my original assumption of the yellow\green/red colour order was correct. I now believe it was actually red\green/red which makes a little more sense. That being said this is the near finished gauge face I've painted up and while its not 100% perfect I'm satisfied with it.
