I think the 6pdr striker was basically derived from the 2 pdr one, has anyone got a picturr comparison of a two pdr striker next to a 6 pdr one.

Default 2pdr verus 6pdr

Here are the two for reference, the sleeve dia. appears to be the same, at about 31mm ( have not got my verniers at hand ) and the tube length is about 87mm on the 6pdr and 53mm on the 2pdr. from the face to ( that is the side that goes against the block ) is about 119mm overall length to end of firing pin and the 2pdr is about 98mm. The threads have about the same dia. at 40mm overall, so there you go, with a bit of rework you could quite easily fit a 6pdr into a 2pdr, as even the locating pins and safety mech are same dia. and in the same locations offset from the centre line the same, Cheers Andrew.

Thanks Andrew, looks like I will graft in a 6 pdr one into my 2pdr block, unless there is a 2pdr one available? 😜

Cheers.

If you do graft the 6pdr mech into the 2pdr block, you may have to alter the firing piece on the side of the breech ring to make it work with the 6pdr mech.

But to be done to spec the firing mech hole should be welded and blocked to conform to the reg if you don't have a mech fitted

Default Mk1 barrel

Does anyone have dimensions of a mk1 barrel which has the tapered and flared end?, or know of a museum in the U.K. Which has one ?, as pictured.

Thanks
