I did say it, and the old guy should have known what he was talking about having owned many carriers (Canadian, British, and Australian pattern) and having made a living using them for 40 years or so. He, his father and his brothers used them for "sweeps" They (Butler brothers) trimmed 300 miles of box thorn hedging each year. They all made their living this way.
The hedge cutter was a 16 foot blade mounted on a CMP front hub, mounted on a Ford CMP. The blade was driven by a separate motor also mounted on the boom the blade hung on. apparently they could dig deep trenches with the trimmer. Anyhow, back to the carb. They are not too uncommon a carb, and I suspect the critical diaphragms can still be bought.(I have a couple of NOS carbs) I've not had any feed back until now, and was not planing to use them so thanks for the input Marc (and the Hobson's choice Ben ![]() Anyone other than Marc and Ben running a Solex?

Ben/Marc, did you have to change any linkage for the carrier with the Solex, the choke or throttle etc.? Or does the Solex go right on with no issues, have my finger on the buy it button from Dirk...

I ran a Stomberg 97 on my last carrier...... I run the hot rod variant Ben speaks of.
was a pain in the bum slowing down for Marc to catch up ![]() Charlie is talking about the Holley 94..... what most folk are using to be fair. my current carrier has one fitted, and I have no intention faffing about changing it. will make a bell crank for the choke ..... for what they are worth

A "94" is the standard Holley 94 found on many ford V8s in the civvy guise.
The other regular use carb early on was the 97 Stromberg.
