John, The Chaffee trannies are as simple as a Hydramatic can be. They are very similar to the M5 but they don't have the reverse gear (the reverse is in the transfer case) and they don't have that tricky throttle linkage from the carb, the valve body uses intake manifold vacuum to determine engine load.
