Patrick, why not list the items on here with a price that you want, that way you can avoid eBay fee's and commission fees ? More in your pocket at the end of the day, whilst helping fellow carrier owners out ?

Of course , posting items for sale on MLU at a set asking price instead of Ebay would help out some of the fellows contributing to the sport.

To each his own as Richard posted.
I have offered items for sale myself with best intentions to help others with the hobby. It is an admiral trait although on the other hand I have paid dear prices from many who offered up no deal to get the bits that I needed. I suppose over time a fellow becomes jaded and it becomes a matter of dollars over helping out others. Maybe once you have been beaten down, ripped off or otherwise chiselled, the best and easiest option is eBay. Let the market dictate the value and be done with it. We do live in a fair market society where the almighty dollar reigns. I am sure nobody gave Patrick any deals and his restoration efforts were all on his own back and out of his pocket. I remember offering up a carrrier speedo drive a few years ago at a swap for $15 on my table. NOS in the box. One guy came by my table several times trying to beat me to $10. Eventually I pulled the item off the table and told him it sold. He was furious... I put it up on eBay out of spite and if I remember correctly it sold for $75. Suppose a case of demand but I certainly never lost sleep over it. The market or zealous persons set the price. We all have to pay for our own hobby...

Well said Chris. I have had the equally frustrating experience of being hounded for parts, which I explain are not easy to access, and selling them is not my full time job, once I relent and finally dig up these gems from my stores only to be informed that the price we agreed before the hunt began was too high, or should have included shipping...or they already found a similar part cheaper and would I match the other sellers price...so I can understand why Ebay gets the nod once in awhile...but dangling the parts in front of our noses to pump up the Ebay sales seems a touch crass

As I am sure Donald Trump would tell you, Capitalism is what makes the free world great.
To each is own.....I am sure Patrick paid fair dollar for the items from wherever he got them from, and as long as a seller represents his wares honestly on ebay, then it really falls onto the buyers. It will be interesting to see if Patrick starts them at 99¢ and lets the market decide, or if he starts with a high price. Quite frankly, based on what I have seen carrier stuff sell for on ebay over the past few years, I think he would be more than safe starting at the 99¢. That said, I am careful about selling parts to those who in turn just dump them onto ebay. I have bought off ebay many many times, but have yet to sell a single thing on there. Far easier to toss them on this site at a fair price, and after the feeding frenzy is over, know that I have made a few people happy, and that one day they might return the favor. I have been watching ebay for Patrick's wares but cannot find them. Does anybody have a link? |

Likewise out of interest (as currently I have no need of such parts) but could not find them either.

I sent Patrick an email about the steering wheel, before I realised these things were to go on ebay. No reply so far.
Funnily enough I troll through ebay stuff occasionally, but would probably not bid on something that was on ebay, that was advertised as such through the forum. I guess it seems a bit tacky like someone is pushing for the top price. I am happy to pay a reasonable price, but have no desire to be the guy who paid the highest price ever on the planet. Just me. I have just remembered two people I have helped with carrier bits, with not so much as a thank you. Fortunately I have also made some really good friends in various corners of the planet. ![]() ![]()
