All of the references I can find at the moment say C339 Mk1 cylidrical for 20 pounder. That said, I've just matched up and the C320 box is an exact fit for a 20 pounder APDS mk2 drill round.

This is now going to drive me nuts trying to remember where I read it before buying the box that I've already got.

Yes, that's the cylinder I have and all my references state packed singly in a container.

I suspect C320 got used for various things but it must have been introduced for something specific. As it's clearly almost identical to a C263, other than length, I thought 6 pdr APCBC but that round will fit in a standard C263 so who knows!

Unfortunately the picture is not the best quality, but the ammunition tins on the bonnet of this 6pdr jeep appear to be the same as Rob's.

As far as I'm aware the 6pdr tins were the only ones to have the undulating line on the side.

Regards,

Eddie.

Those are likely C263 for AP or C263A for HE. The C320 looks the same with the same wavy rib but there is no mention of them in the 6 pdr literature I have.

C320 has a different wavy line from the photo - note two bumps up where the one in the photo has two bumps down (like the C263 as Adrian says)
