All I know about the vehicle Dodge W200 W24BE4S143785 CFR 74-21640 ECC 142106 1 1/2 ton Cargo is that it was purchased in 1974 and disposed of out of Ottawa in Sept 1981.

This is a rare military vehicle that has received scant interest and is certainly worthy of being saved and restored as it is an excellent example of the transitional vehicles used by the Reserves and Regular Force in the 1970s and 1980s.

I was looking at the pics Ed took of CFR 21853 back in 1980 and I got thinking. If DND bought 213 and my truck has CFR 21640 does this mean mine was the first in the lot and Ed took a picture of the last? 853-640=213!

Interesting coincidence, but unfortunately no. Jason, there were 225 vehicles purchased in 1974 - yours was in the last third of that contract. CFR 21853 was from a 156 vehicle, 1975 Model W200 purchase.

So will there be a definitive way to arrive at the correct CFR from anything left on the vehicle?

The CFR was determined by using the VIN.
