A more recent photo of KN-50-99. Only now I noted that this Otter has an extra gun mount (?) fitted between the front hatches.

Could that be a 2-inch bomb thrower? It certainly looks like it would have the elevation for that, and it’s pretty much where the 4-inch discharger was normally installed.

It could be, but my first idea was an extra mount for a machine gun or AT rifle.....but than again there seems to be no room for a sight to see what your actually aiming at.......so, maybe bomb thrower would be more logical.

I took a look at the page where the photos from 2008 came from, to see if it maybe had a picture of the interior too (seeing as how many of the ports are open), as that might give a clue. Unfortunately not, but this reply there did make me laugh a little:

is dat geen Sd.Kfz.222.png

He’s right: that isn’t an Sd.Kfz. 222 They both have four wheels, an engine and armour plate, those are about the only things they have in common

Agree on the bomb thrower as it can only move up and down.
