The sandblaster I use primes only in two pack primer which I find a pain to remove when welding so I get the steel blasted only and prime in red oxide which is more mig friendly.

Jake blew a coat of primer over it all and did a quick assembly.

Before I could start repairing the cab I need to make room in the shed to work. Best way was to stand the rear body on its rear end but I decided to remove the roof first and get that out of the way as it made the body too long to stand up and the front part unsupported was a bit too flimsy. The roof is only tack welded with arc welds every few inches externally. Unfortunately I could not access the welds to grind them away. I found the only way was to get a small drill bit and drill around the wled and then chisel between the holes. A tedious job but it caused the least distortion to the remaining solid metal. I supported the roof with a couple of planks and lifted it up with a chain block.

The roof was carried outside and the rear body stood up. From that position I was able to remove the entire floor which also needs replacing and unpick the welds holding the rear guards. The guards only need sandblasting and a tidy up and they can be refitted. The frame the body had been sitting on was then able to be used to position the cab to work on. First I welded some more sheetmetal to the frame to keep the pillars in situ. Then the rear floor sections were cut and matched up and repaired.

The floor still has a few pin holes from sandblasting where the rust had penetrated through but a bit of filler at the end will take care of that and it isn't in spots where strength is essential. Next I rebuilt the bottoms of the rear pillars.

Next was adding the front left floor section. i decided to take a bit more off it to get rid of the large rusted hole. This meant taking the floor from the A pillar. This was braced to prevent movement and the new pieces added.

Before I added the floor piece I had to attach the cowl and noticed then that the front left A pillar was not straight. Using a small winch I was able to pull it straight.
