Default stowage

Artillery director stowage ?

Who would use the director in the gun team and have it handy ?

Were would the tripod be stowed and who would bring it out ?

We have had the discussion before about some of the stowage in the gun tractor that doesn't make sense. There is a spot on the inside of the roof for the plotting board, so that means the tripod for it must be somewhere as well. It's almost like there was no Battery command post.

Default stowage

Thanks Rob.

The 25 pounder gunsight come in a box about the size of that bracket /holder ,

Maybe the gunsight is stowed in it's box in the FAT in that bracket when in transit ?

WO Aubé are you listening in ?

Maybe you have an idea ?

I was thinking the same thing. It is one thing to have all your kit stowed on the shields and trails for a short run, but for the long haul I think you would want to protect them. Otherwise, they will do you no good when you are at the gunline, but the accessories are scattered along the trail.

It would be interesting to find out at what point things like the firing platform would be removed from the gun and stowed on the limber or tractor. Certainly the artillery these days do not leave things like trail spikes, cleaning rods, or aiming posts on the trails of the guns during movement.
