Hi Stuart,

The rusty box is the internal stowage box fitted to Bren Carriers - It holds the cooker.

The silver tinware is the 30cal ammo box holder as fitted in Ferret and Saracen turrets. The padded headrest is fitted to the commanders episcope in the same turret. It stop you smacking your face into the scope as you try to aim the 30.

The bit marked 'Bren' looks suspiciously like a pattern for a sand mould.

Thanks for your replies gentlemen . Much appreciated

The BREN object is starting to intrigue me. You could be right Phil, maybe a casting mould pattern.

By the way, how are things going down Albany way Phil? How are your project/s progressing?

Stuart, can you post some dimensions foe the felt lined box please.
I thought the carrier cooker box was smaller with a square lid.Are there two types?

If the Bren mount were a casting pattern, then why is the top bit done in steel?
Does it pivot there between alloy and steel? Is there a spring between the two parts?
My guess is it was a service item.

I'm wondering if item 3 is a primitive form of aircraft flap asymmetry comparator? Lack of calibrations make it a most unusual instrument.
