Well, no pun intended, I am off home tomorrow. 4 weeks and I feel like a new me. It will be quite a few weeks before I am able to do anything except sit for no more than 30 minutes at a time. The swelling is going down and I am able to move around a lot freeer.

Thankk you to those of you who sent their good wishes and my thanks to those of you who at least had a look at this thread.

I will post some MRI photos when I get home and you will see the result of a 7 1/2 hour operation.

Regards Rick.

Good morning Rick
It will be interesting to see the 'restoration' photos. Did you mention to the surgeon that your hobby bears a distinct similarity to his occupation? This basically comes down to repairing/replacing old/damaged or worn out parts so as they can continue to fulfil their original purpose. Also we were carrying out transplants many years before it became popular with humans. They are a little slow off the mark but we won't hold it against them.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave

Will have to share your observation with one of our MV club members who is an or orthopedic surgeon by profession. Does that make him a double threat?

Rick, glad to here on the mend and looking at things being better than before the surgery. Hope you are up and about doing what you want to do, in the very near future.

Cheers Phil

Dave,

When you mention the similarity, the surgeon will probably challenge you to do the same, but next time do it with the engine running!

Rick,

That's great news! I'm sure that once you're home your recovery will speed up.

Motto, The reason why the surgeon gets paid so much compared to a mechanic, is that he does tune ups, repairs, and overhauls, (often through the exhaust !) without switching off the engine!

Default What's up Doc?

I always remember an engineering school class I attended as a young apprentice in the aviation industry. The instructor was an old grizzled power plant engineer and one of the observations he made was that, "The difference between you blokes and doctors is that a doctor's mistakes are quickly buried, in your case someone is going to come back and demand to know; Why?"
I am not in awe of the medical profession, after my triple bypass I thanked the surgeon for the nifty plumbing job and told him to send me the bill like I would any other tradesman. He was a real nice guy and took it with a grin as I intended.

I hear that to add to the joys of your hospital stay somebody stole your phone Rick. The scumbags can strike wherever you are. A curse that is never far away I'm sorry to say.
All the best for a speedy recovery.
