The roof hatch suggests this vehicle was built late 44 or 45. There were a lot of British Contract vehicles built here in Canada in 45 for certain, that the British never took delivery of and the Canadian Gov't took delivery of them. Many have showed up surplus and never issued, even to the Canadian military.

Could these vehicles have made it so far into the delivery system, before Australia also decided it was too late in the war to worry about delivery and they were diverted to other customers? Be interesting to know the production date for this truck, or more details about the Australian order: when placed and completion status.

Nice unusual CMP never the less.

David
