The plan for today was to set the brakes/steering, start the engine and check for leaks.
That all went according to plan and was trouble free so we thought we'd pull it forward out of the workshop and back it up just to check it moved. It did. We then got a little carried away, after a quick check to see that the brakes were steering correctly she span round, out the yard and down the track by the house. After we both had couple of trips up and down, turning very nicely at the ends we put her back inside for a well earned rest. It was a very good first trip, no leaks and she drives and turns very well. The NOS tracks and sprockets will take some bedding in as there are a couple of stiff links plus we only wired it up temporarily to get it going, that needs to be done properly for next time. Overall a very good day and I think Shaun and I both had pretty big smiles on our faces by the end of play time. Now the engine cover and air boxes can go on and fitting all the fiddly detail bits. |
