Hi Lynn
Good spotting on the oil mark, but we all know that CMPs don't leak they just mark their territory. But with a brand new truck you might also suspect that the diff had been over filled. Really easy to do if you are pumping the lube in, then to avoid the mess on the floor you put the plug in real quick. It is always interesting to look at factory photos to see little details. Cheers Phil

Hi,
In two chevrolet parts lists, CGT-01 of november 1942 and N° 197 of august 1942, I have find the part number of this side lamps wire tube.(conduit) (used with rubber type lamps only) The things that I can't find in this lists are the clips and the RH srews with washers and nuts to hold the tubes in place. See pictures below. |

Keith in regards to your question when did they start installing front marker lites on the fenders ? Interesting enough looking at the 1940-41 parts book, there are no front marker lights, brackets or conduit listed, as you mentioned the head lights had both a large main head light bulb and an upper small bulb for the marker light, I have this system and also the large rubber lights mounted on the front fender, so your question when then did they start installing the rubber marker lights ? it must have been after the 1941 model came out, and after the parts book was printed, this catalogue is #175 January 1941, there is a picture of a 12 cab in the parts book with out marker light, bracket and conduit.

Herman, Are the screws and nuts in a "standard hardware" section at the back or front of the book?

Lynn,
Of course, each parts list has at the end a section "standard stock" with the different bolts, screws, washers, nuts, cotter pins and so on used in this vehicle. But this list don't tell us what you need for the installation of the tubes. cheers |
