Thanks to everyone and the info posted here I have been able to make up the battery compartment parts. I just have a few small things to finish and then they are done.

I see that the first photo in Mariano's post shows a different vehicle. The earth lead is bolted to the chassis with one of the front outrigger bolts and there is only one hole in the chassis rail for the other lead. In the other photos the earth lead is at the rear of the battery box and there are two holes with the other lead through the front hole.
Great photos though !
