Hi Guys

Thanks for your support and good comments. I don't feel so bad now and I must admit I had used the term "Land Fill" comment myself on more than one occasion. I admit I did wonder if I was doing the right thing. But I now know I have.

I flew to Sydney with a mate and drove the LR back to Adelaide and I can report it was a dream, we sat on 100Klm an hour most of the way home and I did not have any trouble with my back due to the comfortable high back seats. I did think of coming back via Corowa but we did not have any of our camping gear. Next year.

I wouldn't be an Australian if I couldn't take the good banter and having guys take the piss, I have been known to dish it out myself. Something we learn as part of serving in the Army. My Jeep was called "Little Jo" and I have removed the name from the Jeep and I am thinking of transferring it to the Land Rover. Thanks again guys for your support. Now I don't feel as if I am an "Outcast.

There is nothing wrong with an ex-military Land Rover. They are just as valued as anything else; I should know as I own an ex-mil Airborne Lightweight.

In the UK there is nothing worse than some old guy in to his 90's who is keeping an MV, as he can't face parting with it. His family are not interested in MVs and over the years of inactivity his vehicle gets to the point where it gets towed away for scrap. So it far better to say enough and let it go to someone else!

Yes mate I agree with you, as I have agreed with the comments made by other MLU members. It will be sad to see the Jeep loaded onto the truck, but I know the new owner will get to enjoy and show it off like I did.

Driving around the Australian country side you see many a MV parked unlovingly out in the weather rotting away and when the owners are contacted to purchase and restore, you are told they will never sell. I find that so strange because as you said when they pass away the scrappers are the only winners.

I have a XMOD LR D90 and love it, goes about as fast as my old jeep but hey, it is still a military vehicle, not some posh Landy, enjoy it!!!!

You won't be an outcast with us Land Rover people, remember we are getting more numerous and can appreciate that the original Land Rover prototype was based upon a WWII Jeep (which was based upon the Bantam (Austin of America) design).

Hi All

Thank you for the good positive comments. I did not know there were so many Land Rover people out there in MLU land, I feel I have moved into a new fraternity. I drove my newly acquired LR to a bit of a get together of our club members today and had to put up with a bit of good natured banter, like where to park my "Land Fill". But all showed positive interest. I know I will be in good company in 2018 in Corowa when they celebrate "The Year of the Land Rover". I am sure Keith Webb will get lots of good interview's and film footage for the DVD.
