The "MkIII" refers to "Tank Infantry" not to "periscope" as might be thought. Tank, Infantry MkIII was of course the Valentine but when Valentine production ended in Canada the production of these periscopes in Canada by REL continued and they were fitted to Rams, still with the same writing on the periscope. On very late Rams the turret periscopes were 3 1/2" taller to give a better view over the top edge of the turret front but the inscription was still unchanged although the armour shield and the top prism assembly were that much taller.

Has anyone seen one with a date other than 1942 ? I haven't.
