As I was checking my shaft a spring setup the Australian carriers must have a smaller diameter shaft as I just measured my Canadian one and it is 3/4"x12TPI and not the 5/8 UNF as you have specified for the Australian carriers. So there would have to be some dimension revisions if we would like to make one to use on the Canadian carriers. Just thought I would let everyone know if you were going to make one for the British/Canadian carriers

Dave, yes the rods are interchangeable with the correct nuts, however you do need the matching threaded inner part to the puller.

I have made a new inner shaft with the correct internal thread for Universal Carrier spring rods. The outer tube and nut were reused.
It works a treat, although the pitch of the thread means it takes a lot of turns to pull the rod through the opposite cup. I ground an old spanner to fit the flats on the rod to ensure the tool is wound all the way onto the spring rod end. The only thing it won't do of course is pull a rod through a seized/rusted on spring ball! Rob |

Hi Rob, that's great you made one. It is a very slow operation to wind it down but you know it's safe. The only thing I know that will get the shaft out of a seized and rusted ball is heat and I have tried all sorts of things. In fact I snapped a hydraulic shaft in two with my 100 tonne press and it never moved the shaft without heat.
