M152 Springs

how many leaves in a front spring on an M152??

The Cdn EME repair manual states 7 leaves in the front springs making no difference between an M37 and an M43. My 152 has 10 leaves on one side and 11 leaves on the other side of the front. Both of my back springs are at 13 leaves as per the manual. I would have thought the build for the M43 and 152 would be the same.. but 7 leaves on the front seem to be just a little light. Can you guys with M43s and M152s comment here?

Hi JD. I have 10 on both the fronts and 13 on both the backs.
The ordinance parts manual also shows 7 on the front.

Ten on the front passenger side, eleven on the driver's side front (extra leaf to counteract the weight of the driver's side door mounted spare tire), 13 on both rears. Robert in Toronto

Gents, always remember that the Cdn.Forces started with a US M37 manual, added a new front cover and "updated" several sections of same for the M37Cdn and again later for the M43/152Cdn.

Mistakes WERE made and items left out (only some of which were corrected via change supplements). Most notably wrt the winch pto section discussed previously via this list.

Considering the often substantial changes made to many of these trucks by civilian owners, after their service in the military, it would be unwise to treat the Cdn. manuals as "the gospel" when considering restoration questions. Robert in Toronto

Thanks all! Wonder if my springs just got reversed? My 10 are on the drivers side with the 11 on the passengers side. Robert which place was the extra leaf put into the spring assy?
