Shot attached has the inverse of your flag Bruce. Maybe daytime and nighttime versions?

Light and dark backgrounds. The Sigs collar dogs (when enameled) demonstrate both.

Default Semaphore flags

According to the Visual Signalling Pam No. 2 Semaphore flags may be white with a blue horizontal stripe or all blue depending on the nature of the background.
Flags are 2 ft. square and the flag poles 3 ft. 6in. long.
Under average conditions in England, with the aid of a telescope, flag signals can be read at a distance of three miles
For some strange reason flag signals did not work worth a dam at night.

Default heliograph stuff.....

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the great information!

Bought this unit off eBay tonight. It doesn't look exactly like the WW2 ones I've seen, so may have "stepped in it", but the price and location was right for me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0#ht_167wt_914

Anyone have the leather case for it?

Thanks, David

EDIT: I have now located a leather case for it!

Default seek and you shall find...

Hi,

Finally found a complete Mk.V kit for sale in the U.S. on eBay last week and bought it. Looks like all the parts are with this one.

My plan is to collect all the other visual signalling equipment to go with it, and make a complete display.

Thanks, David

Default got a lamp.....

Hi,

Bought a short range signalling lamp kit from eBay to go with my heliograph tripod,(thanks Roberta for the heads-up! ).

Does anyone have a couple of the clips that were used to secure the shoulder strap webbing? I think they should look like the one in the last photo?

Thanks, David

edit: found a couple of these clips in the floor debris of the Austin Champ I just bought.
