Thanks Keith.
I was told the cab 12 was painted portland stone when it was sent to the middle east or while she was posted there, but was she painted army green on the production line. So does that mean the motor was army green even after it was sent to the middle east? ![]()

Is there reason to believe this Cab 12 is ex-Middle East? I had assumed it was a normal 41/42 delivery ex-Canada.

Hi Tony
I was told it served there due to the fact the army green had been painted over in portland stone. You could see parts that were still green under many of the panels but could easy see the stone colour on the outside of the truck. Now as i said this is all new to me so this could be quite wrong so im just going on advice from a chap i know, maybe someone painted it here but im not sure. Anyway to find out ![]()

Hi Shane
Your truck has the roof hatch as fitted to Australian issue F60L cab 12s. It is extremely unlikely to have served anywhere other than Australia or perhaps New Guinea. Also the colour it was in when you got it is faded khaki, not portland stone - khaki fades to a very similar colour. The ones with Middle East service were a much smaller number of Chevrolet cab 12s which were issued there and brought back to Australia. If it didn't have a roof hatch that would be more likely to have had overseas service. Also the Supply/Mech contract number on your data plateS/M OR C/D 2037 is for Australian delivery. Quote:

Hi Shane- my research established the colour as Light Stone. I am restoring an F15 and will finish up with this colour. I obtain all my paint from Protec in the Port and they have all the formulas. The base paint is their engine enamel.

There's also a few pics in AWM series 044336 - 044343. One of them is named Joan, don't know if Clementine was there.
