These were about 3 strips, about 1" thick each stacked and about from frame rail to frame rail wide. The 3 cab bolts passed through the wood to the frame. Maybe it had something to do with dampening the bounce because of the 250 gallons of water. I'm not sure.

So, is the wooden piece an original item?

Yes mine too but inside the frame of the floor just above the spring was where it was. The 2 bolts that go to the spring and the middle one in your photo pass through the wood.

Great truck but I noticed the rear fenders are different. Still a camera and half an hour would be invaluable.

Ian, can you tell us more about the primer coat you sprayed that part of the frame?

Are all the floor boards removable?? I think some of mine are welded to the cab frame?

I have one of those water tanks on my farm. It came with the place. My farm is only a few miles from an old airbase, I knew it was military but just looking at it I can see it is identical. Missing a bunch of things but the tank is galvanized so it is still in great shape and we use it to haul water (pick it up and load it on a trailer) when it gets really dry. No truck to go with it yet.
Funny I just thought I would mention it. Came out of CFB Mountain View in Ontario. |

There was a full page article and pictures of a fully restored 1943 CMP water truck on page 42 of the Feb 20/13 issue of Metronews - a daily publication available for free in the metro Toronto area. The owner of the truck is Bill Hebb, who might be an invaluable source for parts and general information for you.
The paper has a website at metronews.ca The author of the article was Jeff Melynchuk, with a website wheelbasemedia.com Hope this proves useful for you. John T (Mel) Gabel Campbellville, ON |

Does the water truck with canvas top over the tank in the Pictures in Dutch Defense archive in the post above have both Ford and Chevy plate in the grill???

I can't tell what it is but there is something over the chev. symbol. I don't think it says Ford though.

A funny detail on the C15A on the dutch army archive is that something is written on the door under the numbers!
Looks like "Hold Fast" which in Norwegian means "hang on" ![]() ![]() perhaps some Dutch members can give it another meaning? Svenn |

"Hold fast" literally translated into Dutch means "vasthouden" - maybe it was an indication they should hang on to this truck as it was a good one? Interestingly, other trucks also had written texts on their doors. This one: http://nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl/me...1-13966e870614 has "Remmen Slecht" or "brakes bad" written in chalk. It could well be these pictures were taken when taking stock of vehicles. Hanno
