Hi Guys
I'm new to MLU, I'm restoring a Mk 2 and need a pair of the Kralinator filters (and a bunch of other stuff). Are they avialable and what price?

Hi George

I am afraid my query to Brian has spurred the interest of all and we cleaned him out of these. There may well be small lots of them with other collectors, but it will be up to them to offer.

Bob
The mk2 carrier cannisters are very different. The top one has jar type threads on each end, while the bottom one has one single jar type thread. The two attach together and the whole outfit then attaches into the filter housing. These filters are desinged for full flow, unlike most of the flathead filters which were only partial flow.

No doubt that a substitute could be made, but there is nothing like the real thing.

Judging by the part numbers assigned from Ford, the filter was only used on the Lynx and the mk2 carriers. It was a kralinator product and was a bit ahead of it's time and slightly overbuilt as well. Many gas engines at the time were either using no oil filtration or only partial oil filtration. This kit provided full filtration as well as adding another couple quarts to the lubrication system which would keep the temps cooler.

When I say jar threads, I mean threads sort of like you would find on a military gas mask cannister.

I did a fair bit of research into these filters and there was no direct replacement.

My scanner is down right now, but I think the carrier parts manual has a reasonable illustration of it.
