with the acetone will it soften/remove paint? And does the acetone evaporate out quickly?

Been a few threads on here about rust removal, dips, baths etc but always interested in alternatives.

I've got some small parts to clean, I might give it a try

seems to turn it to rust free metal and with no work either soak the smaller parts and work the larger parts. Yes paint is softened and removed as well as skin...It can irritate so wash up quick. No it does need to be wiped down and I usually clean parts with brake cleaner or acetone before painting. cheap and dries really fast.

Hmmm well i suppose that is a way to go but I have found that water based anything is usually well water and does nothing but wash a little and it's your arm that really does the work. same as paint, clear floor finishes etc. Nothing wrong with them but...
You could put this in with engine oil and dispose it at a recycle centre or gas staion...
