Welcome aboard Hans
nice carrier and great resto, if that is the original armour you should be able to find the upper hull numbers for your carrier on the top edge of the armour just to left of the dash assembly just brush with light sandpaper and it should pop right up Stew |

Hi welcome! Not to be a pain but 1293 as a lower hull number puts that in the VERY earliest of carriers. If so there should be other evidence of that.
Looking at the photo There appears to be an 8 possibly a 9 in front of your number, but it appears to be 8193 (with the 1 over struck on the 2) (an OOPS! on the assembly line?) My best guess for 8193 would place your carrier in the approx. June 1942 build time frame, with a contract number of CT 112790 - 112860 give or take. The serial Number would be your upper hull number + 1000 (+/-) production offset. The Ford Motor company wasnt too concerned if the numbers were all the same. Take 1 lower hull from stock mate it with 1 upper hull from stock and give it the next S/N and CT number on the list. Some carriers are very close, others...not so much! So assuming it is a canadian Mk I* carrier that all is reasonable. If your upper armour is original, look for the upper hull # on the top of the angle iron of the partition behind the gunners head. in your case it should be: CB 8xxx (+/-) 50 -100 of the Lower hull number. Like the previous post said if the armour in front of the driver is original...on the top edge in very small stampings will be the complete build date and serial number. If you would like a copy of the data let me know! If you could confirm this and let me know what you find I would appreciate this. I have a data base carriers and numbers and every scrap of info helps fill in the gaps

I made the upperhull as painfully correct as possible. Perhaps it is possible to discover the org.upperhull number in the books, so I can put it on. Marc van Aalderen is helping me to put an org. list of all carrier info on to the forum. So I trie to do my share to this great maple leaf up machine. Spontanious regards Hans |

job. Before my retirement I designed and made amusement parks, but this carrier job is a lot more of fun! Perhaps someone on the forum is interested in renovating his tracks. As I have analised the material in a lab. Oversize 13mm pins and a professional 13mm drill job could save a lot of carrier tracks. I will start the job at the end of this year and finish it a.s.a.p.. I could ceep the forum informed during this job with foto´s mesurements, testrun etc. Spontanious regards Hans |
