I don't believe British built carriers had any serial numbers stamped into the hulls. They had a painted "T" number, and a riveted data plate on the right front guard. (which I believe would have been removed and bolted to any replacement guard)
If anyone has a Brit carrier with original numbers,on the hull please speak up.

Hello Shaun
Back in 1991 I enquired at Bovington to see if they had any info on my carrier and David Fletcher came back with the only 2 bits of info they had regaurding the order. One dated 30/5/1944 shows contract AID-GB-213 for carriers and windsors totalling 5870 with the WD numbers. The other sheet gives a list of WD numbers allocated to different types of vehicle and who the order was placed with. Mr Feltcher said that the records for which unit each carrier was sent to do not exist any more and have no way of knowing where the went. The photo copys of thes forms are not very good but may be of intrest to you. Stephen |

the grille on my 1942 Canadian Mk1 is square holed round wire it does not have any cut out or access hole....whether it is original or not I don't know, but it certainly looks as it should.
