Gregg collection is doing fine these days. The odd one is on display at the main museum building and the remainder are all indoors at the old RCHA maint building. If you call ahead you can usually arrange a visit to see them.

One Ferret at the LdSH(RC) was modified with a trailer hitch to pull a funeral gun (a 25 pdr with a cut down gunshield and a rack for the coffin). I have no idea if it was used for its intended purpose prior to becoming a monument, but it sat in Martin Park in Calgary for 20-odd years before we resurrected it. The Regiments last running Centurion was placed in the park with a Ferret on either side. All three are now running as part of the Strathcona Historical Vehicle Troop. The first Ferret and Centurion were re-commissioned in 1994/5 and the other Ferret around 1999.
We used the Ferret once for a funeral of a Strathcona officer in 1995 or 1996 in Calgary. I think the 25 pdr funeral gun was a 1 bde asset. It replaced Jack Guthrie's FAT (now at the CWM) because it ran like a POS. |

I have heard tell of such an arrangement of the Ferret towing the gun with a casket on top before, as yet no one has posted pictures of that.
I cant wait until I figure out the CFR of c/s 31 and get some in service pictures of it. R |
