Question 1953 M38A1 carbureter rebuild kit

Hi guys had to rebuild the carb it was toasted and full of red rot rustdust!
Wondered who to go to for a decent kit for the carter YS950S carb?

I looked on rockautos site but under the 1955 cj5 there are two real options but the parts shown do not look like the ones I really need.

I got a kit from rapco as I ordered paint as well and it has all BUT the one necessary part the rubber cup and diaphram for the metering rod. It has the other rubber diaphram and cup...? I emailed to see if it was supposed to be included...nothing yet. Any thoughts i have heard that Midwest has a good kit...?
thanks

I would throw my vote behind the midwest kit.

I do have a box of spare parts for the jeep and duece carbs and fuel pumps. If you can scan and show me an illustration of what you need I may well have it here.

I'd love to show you a picture here so all could see it but this won't let me make an album and is not clear on how to add a picture to a post or a reply so I'll have to wait for directions from the moderator or email you direct Rob...Thanks

Default Picture of the missing piece

Here is a pic of the missing piece from the car rebuild kit i got the other day from way down Texas way. You can see the old parts and new replacements except the one that did not come with the kit so beware you might not get it either as they have yet to respond to an email and or phone call...? So it probably should be called a partial rebuild kit.

Mid west I guess

I had a look in the carb/fuel pump box, and no joy there. Besides, I have heard tale that the original rubber bits do not like todays ethanol blends of gasoline, so you are better off with new production if you can get it. Seems to me I have read others saying they were missing those same pieces from their carb kits from other dealers, while raving about the quality and completeness of John's.

Default Carb re-build kit

Casey,
Here is a picture of a kit that was in the system long ago. My father pulled it out of his vault of goodies last week. Carter Zip Kit 1710 Recarb kit. Hope this helps.

Yes I saw right away the peice that is missing and apparently no to be found in this rebuild kit so avoid the kit from Rapco out of Texas as it does not comtian the needed Metering rod diaphram. Thanks for the pick Trooper!

Well the kit I ordered from mid west was dropped off at the post office and now is....?
Yep the US post can't find it and the Canadian post can't find it either? I was even there too! Damn should have drove to Mid West but time and contract would not allow me to deviate from the mission. Oh well Spoke to US post today and they are stumped as are the Can post people...! Me well it's par for the course...Sort of like a vending machine... we always put more money in after it gives us nothing the first time don't we...? Come admit it you have done this at least once! LOL!!!! Jeeps gotta love em ...

A note to all who may read this...Mid West sent another Kit for the Carb to me and it was here within 4 days of being sent! So the original that is still out there being tossed back and forth between US and Canada Poatal systems ...well who knows when it will serface but to let others know that is the sign of a decent company!
They will get my business again for sure... Thanks again John!
