Here is another colour photo of an RAF Bedford QL bowser I saw on the web.
Interestingly the roundal on the side of the Bedford has what appears to be its red circle in the roundal changed to a red star. At first I thought this was to do with it belonging to an Yugoslavian unit - but just like some tanks I have seen with a hammer and sickle i think it is the ground crew showing off their left wing political beliefs as many did in 1945. The Spitfire is a late mark with late versions of the wing roundals. In early 1945 they had a white ring added to the red/ blue wing roundal but immediate post war some Sqns changed the white to yellow.

Any chance this could be the red star.

I've mentioned it is a star already - do you mean Red Star as some kind on brand name?
I believe the late mark Spitfire with 5 bladed prop was photographed in Germany so I doubt the bowser has anything to do with an eastern European 'Red' Air Force - just a bit of fun I think. Also post VE Day 1945, Yugoslavia was causing trouble with Italy disputing the border around Trieste etc so I doubt any RAF units remained in the country

OK lads : the aircraft is a Spitfie MK XIV now here is your clue it belongs to 414 Sqn RCAF. taken april 1945 at Wunsdorf Germany. The marking was common on Canadian sqns but this example is a bit smaller than normal.
