I wonder if there is a weight to manpower ratio yet to be discovered in some Sigs Pam somewhere???

Yes , you are correct.

The coastwatcher radios used up in the SW Pacific Islands required a whole team of native carriers to lug around the AWA teleradio , batteries and ancilleries like the petrol battery charger. This was the downfall of a few coastwatchers when the natives betrayed them to the Japs . Usually it was a execution by beheading .

A good read is :
"The coastwatchers" by Eric Feldt

A brief biography is here: http://www.battlesforguadalcanal.com...ldt/feldt.html
