Hey Fellas,
Been off-line for a while. Busy busy month of training. I have managed to put a few miles on the 151. Its not perfect, and there are a few kinks to work out, but i'm going to just enjoy it this summer. Got together with Ryan (owner of the 52 M38) and took some pics parked in the middle of my old Troop vehicles. A little bit of old meets new..... Almost makes me wish I went Tan. Mike, you're tempting me to make a trip down with 151. Even with this more or less finished, I can't help but have a look. |

Scott: Why do you have a different provincial plate in some pics? Is one of those the "Historic" plate for NB?
Sent an e-mail to you 2 weeks ago...got lost I suppose...I could use that 2299 now, as well as stencils. Any chance of sending another of the large Red/Black warning decal and another seat belt decal? When the posties get back of course. As per my lost e-mail, what's your tel ext? Main swbd still has you at 7196, and I've left a msg at 7803 (even though I know that's not your number any more). Regards

My Regt has been described as currently being 200 pers larger than its infrastructure was designed for (which is considered the worst in the CF), not including planned growth of another 100+ in the next 2 years. I am now currently one of the 200 who are "homeless" within the Regt ![]() Funny you noticed the License Plates. The top ones were my old Ontario Plates I used from some very close to home testing before I transferred over to my new NB tags. I'm just running regular NB plates now. Insurance was a whopping $140 per year, and registration about another $90 per year. Vintage Plates are only $15 per year, but NB has some pretty restrictive terms on what your allowed to do with Vintage Plates (Parades, Shows, Test Drives etc only), and i'm the kinda guy who will drive the Jeep to work 5 days in row if the weather cooperates. Despite being a pretty large Military Community, there are only 2 or 3 non-Iltis MVs on the road around here with any regularity and it would only be a matter of time before I got shook down about all the "Test Drives". Sadly, I don't have anymore decals at this point. I'm still waiting for the Bilingual Seat Belt, Cooling System Warning, and CDN Flag decals. They may be in but I haven't seen my connection in a long time. As far as the other ones though, Rob Teslia at the 31 CER Kit shop (rob31cerkitshop AT rogers DOT com) has both the Square Red/Black as well as the Long Yellow/Black "WARNING: TURN OFF RADIO AND INTERCOM SYSTEMS BEFORE STARTING OR STOPPING ENGINE". He also has some others but I can't remember exactly which ones. Jon, I think i'll just take this stuff to the UPS Store. I find the prices pretty reasonable and I don't even need to have a box. They usually will wrap it all up for me for a nominal fee. The lazy mans way to ship. Even before the strike, I found my local Canada Post felt more and more like the DMV. Scotty |

Scott:My, how the provinces differ in their treatment of plating HVs.I pay $118.00 insurance per year with absolutely no restrictions except you must have at least one other validly plated vehicle registered to you, and you don't drive the HV to and from work.
Looking forward to the UPS guy rolling into the driveway. I'm close enough to Meaford ATC to pick up Range Control on 49.9 on the RT 524A. Regards

Well, i'm going to call this thing finished for now.
There are a few things I am going to work on or procure over the coming months: Semi-Gloss OD Paint on the underside of the Hood, Ziebart Body Plugs & Decal for Dash, New Canvas Seat Cushions, Restore the Radios. I finally had the four patches of 503-321 Olive Drab painted on. As mentioned before, I knowingly inverted the Greens in the Cam Pattern. This was original paint in a can dated from 1993. Despite a thorough shaking, mixing, use of a quality reducer, and a bit of Flattener added, it still came out looking almost Satin. That being said, the more sun it gets, the more it seems to be flattening out. Added a few more details to the dash etc. Since the Jeep was basically rebuilt, I put in a fresh Speedo, so I put an "Add On" decal on the dash to denote the previous mileage, as well as a "Unit Servicing Recorder" for the dates and mileages for future fluid changes etc: Also discovered a cheap easy way to secure Radios to the Power Trays by drilling a small hole through a clamp and rib on the MT-1029, and then installing a Padlock so clamp cannot be unscrewed: Last edited by Scott Bentley; 12-07-11 at 02:22. |
