One for our UK friends, at our local show a chap turned up with Bedford, but not just your ordinary one. It,s a 1933 comercial same 6 cyl motor as a Vauxhall, has anyone got some details as they appear some what rare in OZ. Took the short for small display.

The VXC and VYC were classed as 12 cwt vans in the UK, made between 1932 and 34. As the one you show is badged as a British Bedford, it was an export model, so the wire spoke wheels and open cab might have been an option or been adapted later in life. Not sure the chrome grill would have been standard finish for a commercial either, usually black painted. regards, Richard

There are a few here in Victoria. Two are in this area and another on the farm in Dunkeld where i picked up my Chev Staffcar. All had black painted grills and wire wheels. All 3 have a dark blue body with black guards and at this stage none have been restored although one is in the process at the moment.
regards Rick.

Tony , the pics where taken at the Orange Show, the little Bedford came from out west, all the timbers rotten but all the fittings there, its still missing some original bits, somebody has offered him a 34 Vauxhall 1/2 chassis driving a saw bench which WAS going 20 years ago after they saw his at the Show.

Thanks Rick for the info, I,ll pass it on . Richard ! I knew you would have some info, so we will pose the question, did it have hub caps??. Some of Daves rims have heavier spokes, He is going to contact the Vauxhall group in the UK to see if they can help.

I would think those wheels when fitted to the Vauxhall car would have had caps, but the only photos I have come up with of the Bedford version only show them with steel wheels, so cannot really say. Sorry, perhaps the Vauxhall club will come up with more info.
