For those who don't recognise the vehicles. L to R.
"Aramis" was the Ford F30 of David Lloyd Owen when he commanded the Yeomanry patrol of the Long Range Desert Group. He went on to be the C.O. and retired as a general. I bought the basic truck for £300 about 1986 and it took 6 years to get it to this standard. I only had one small photo to work from in those days. I will post a photo of my secong F30 in a few weeks when it is sprayed and the final details added. Centre and right are two 1941 Ford F60's as used by the Heavy Section of the LRDG to build up supply dumps behind enemy lines. They often had no doors screens or even roofs! The one on the right is mine and it cost me £250. It was in some bad way!!! I'll try to get a photo on for the Jeep enthusiast. We are based in Eastern UK. and I think it's now 16 Fords and Chevs. Watch this space as I am no computer wizz and need my son's help to post photos! It's an age thing! Paul. |
