Thanks Euan,
have checked Vickers Oil cans out using my ever helpful Research Assistant (Ms. Google), these appear to come in 2 sizes, both square, like this one currently on E-Bay: http://www.quicksales.com.au/buy/auc...temid=11781883 Marc, Hoping you are on the money, as I have a round bracket on the inside wheel arch of my Humber that appears to be same size. I knew that the Ferret had a "Convetional" plunger type oil can, that there were 2 different oil cans is news to me. Thinking on the fly, would these have been used for oiling the 2 speed generator? FFW Humbers were fitted with these, bracket is mounted about a foot away from the geni., and would explain why some trucks have them, but most do not (thought they had just been robbed). This could well be case solved. Thank you. Now, how about the other one? Rich

is just a standard ww2 oil tin as found on the back of a riveted carrier or the side of a cmp. There is a Canadian one with the broad arrow inside the "C" pressed into the top. and a slightly different one (British?) the Canadian one has "G.S.W." with the year eg. "1942" pressed in the bottom, inside a circle.
I have one with "SAE 30 OIL" painted on the side. size approx. 120x145x280mm.

Hi Derk
I have never seen that kind of cap on a one gallon oil can.... it should have the usual cast/machined heavy brass cap with a little chain tied to the tab shown just below the current cap..... Last time I saw 2 of them for sale in a Burlington militaria show, they were asking $80 each.... I sneezed and they were both gone... Bob
