I own a CMP that served longer. My Ingersol Rand Compressor mounted on a cmp trailer was not released from service until 1987. I worked on it up in Flin Flon in the early 80s when I went up there for ATIs. It is a 1943 model which puts it's service life at 44 years.Note that it was never a training aid or a museum piece, but an original in service equipment.

Hi Rob
I remember reading somewhere that certain specialized CMP survived in CF service long after the general cargo etc had been phased out. That your air compressor unit continued to be use for so long is not surprising, what do you think was the reason for its retirement. I suspect that it like the Ford Welding Truck just kept running and working with only normal maintenance so the people need to depend on them kept them. Wonder how many newer units came in and left because they were not as dependable. Cheers Phil
