Personally, I want the Topkick with the crane as a hauler truck.

Yes, I was thinking that the GMC looked interesting for recoveries. A bit thirsty as a daily driver and a bit pricey to insure for a few road trips a year....

As info there was a truck that looked like one of the F700 4x4 civilian pattern troop haulers in the last auction, described as being from Corrections Canada. It went for $1600, but was a couple of years older and didn't have a crane. My transport costs would be less than yours......

Those things are pretty cheap to insure, and with that engine and crane, you could drag pretty much anything out and bring it home.

I've been shopping around for a one or two-ton truck, preferably with a small crane, mainly for getting MVs. My plan is to pay for it by renting it out on the weekends, a 'man with a van' service. You can make decent money up here making runs down to Edmonton or Calgary to pick up large loads (Especially other vehicles, since the used car market up here sucks). |

someone (Hugo?) went to look at this batch and said they were all pretty well cannabalized and in rough (rusty) shape...a recoverable tailgate on one, a usuable hood on another. but generally pretty rusty and well picked over

Id sure like to know the history of my Iltis as I know it was an SFOR jeep and served in Bosnia (VK base pass found behind speedo and other VK-bosnia documents too), was some kind of command vehicle (niner) but had no unit markings visible. #86158

SFOR or IFOR? Stabilization Force was a fighting element (such as Canada's was) and Implementation Force was an occupying force.

The sequence of bases is fuzzy, but Velika Kladusa / Coralici / Bihac / Zgon / Bosanski Petrovac / Drvar / (some little shithole further west towards the Croat border ...) / Tomaslavgrad / Glamoc etc. If yours has a VK artifact, it is more likely an IFOR vehicle. Yes there were equipment rotations, but I believe almost everything stayed in place with a new stencil. Getting back to the original origins, I would concur that these trailers and Iltises are ex Para school vehicles. They look very beat up, and would have finally outlived their usefulness as training aids.
