Default INvite to MLU'ers

Hello all,

I am inviting you all to join me for dinner, and Jan, Rick, & Tim, and Richard (who is taking a short flight out from the old country...) at the the Old Empire Hotel and is just over the bridge in Wahgunyah.

You may all recall last year's dinner was on the Friday. Jan suggested we move it to Thursday, so there is no pressure on KVE'ers or MLU'ers. So I booked for Thursday. It will be in the beer garden at the rear of the pub.

Last year it was about $20 per head for dinner, so I expect the prices to be about the same. Jan will be there with two mobiles to each ear, which will be amusing as ever. And for those who didn't attend last year, its a short stagger from Ball park across the bridge & over the border into Victoria to the pub ensures that you are out of New South Wales.

*** COULD you Respond to my email: shedman_33@yahoo.com ...if you wish to attend or not so I can get numbers. Thanks ***

Ian

REMEMBER Dinner. Empire Hotel, Wahgunyah, Thursday 17th March at 7:00PM

I am looking forward to getting to Corowa which will/may/could be a pleasant 35 miles per hour in my Land-Rover. Well its 4 MPH faster than a Blitz.

Regards,

Ian

Let's hope the rain stops by then. The Autofest held at the end of February has been cancelled this year.
The Jump Shak at Corowa Airport was flooded last week. Tim Scriven might be able to give us further details on this.

Take a look at this weather forecast for Corowa, next week, looks really promising. Can't help thinking the Autofest organisers have been a bit hasty. Lets hope the awful weather is on the way out now.

Here are a few more frame grabs from the video.

Plenty of splashes for everyone!

Default Corowa

I just got home from Corowa you could have landed a Catalina on the strip yesterday with the wheels up. It poured up there Saturday and they have had the wettest Febuary on record. The usual vehicle assembly spot at the airfield had 100mm of water over it. Sure hope it dries up before the big event.

Default Wet

You mean one 'o these?

Crikey that's wet! Still, it means plenty of fun in the mud for those who enjoy that sort of spectacle.

Default Drive on Friday the 18th March

Howdy all,

Part of the events for Corowa, that KVE has planned, includes a drive out to an iconic Shearing Shed on North Tuppal Station.

The 'Shed' is located 30km's west of Tocumwal. Tim Scrivens and myself went and checked it out to meet the owners and to generally see whether it was worth checking out.

The answer is, very much yes..It is an astonishing structure and takes some time to have a good look at. The owners are going to give us a guided tour as well and explain its history.

Additional good news is despite all the rain, the roads are in excellent shape and it will be a pleasant trip. Should take us about 2 hours (By Blitz) to get there from Ball Caravan Park.

Estimated departure time 8:30 in the morning 10:30 arrival, check out shed till 12 - 12:30.

Just a heads up for anyone keen to see a piece of Australias great agricultural heritage while we're down that way for the week.

The trip to North Tuppal is on Friday 18th March. For those who are interested you can visit Chrysties Motor Museum in the afternoon. We can stop for lunch in Tocumwal and Tim has spoken to the owner of the museum and obtained some brochures so if you are interested we will have them available on the day. The address for the Motor Museum is Lot 66 Thorburns Rd, Tocumwal. There are a number of signs in town and it only costs $2 per person.
